What this site covers
The focus is narrow on purpose: materials, hook sizes and a few foundational patterns. These are the topics a beginner needs before anything else, and they are easy to get wrong from scattered sources. Each page is written as a plain reference rather than a tutorial series.
How the notes are written
Articles describe widely documented techniques and patterns. Where a claim could vary by region or water, the text says so rather than stating a single figure. We do not publish invented statistics, study results or quotes. When precise data is not verifiable, the notes use neutral wording instead of numbers.
Sources and images
Photographs are drawn from Wikimedia Commons under their respective licences, and reference links point to public, authoritative pages. Regulatory questions are directed to official bodies such as Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
